Mega Grafx® Studio began in September 1991 with the aspirations and dreams of owner Teresa Carr (view), that’s me.  My love for the art started at an early age in Charleston, West Virginia where I now live matured into a serious appreciation and respect for the creative field.  Since elementary school I wanted to be an artist. I felt it was my God-given calling because it was what I did best out of anything I did in school. I was always told that whatever the strongest desire in your heart is it’s God’s desire for you to live out your lifework. Your lifework is what you’re meant to do and love doing it. I have room for other improvements and this is the place I belong. I know because I’ve done lots of temp jobs and worked at some interesting places, but I’m still called to draw, paint, design, and create. I studied graphic design at Santa Monica Community College at Santa Monica, California.  While a resident there I became a member and gallery worker of the Beverly Hills Art League. I sold my first painting through the gallery during the summer of 94. It was one of those Retro-Americana themes. My heart was longing for something more in my artwork. After a calling to go back east to Nashville, Tennessee, I landed my first graphic artist job with a local Christian-based publisher there.  I worked in the advertising and marketing department. I created brochures, souvenir journals, certificates, artwork, full-page ad inserts, book cover art, and graphic page layouts. One of my artwork is still being used on the company’s catalog of products. I became a member of the local artist group, the Creative Forum. When I returned home, I was commissioned to do artwork through a friend for a church pastor in Ansted. It was Jesus Christ being crucified on the cross. My interests include 3D design (Bryce rocks!), illustration, publishing, print and traditional work. My goal is to provide the best design and illustration with their message to impact society and how we live in it. For more on my experience, technique and skills see my resume.  I became a born-again Christian five years ago, and Jesus Christ is the best thing that can happen in a person’s life. In these days and times of uncertainty you need an anchor to hold you steady in the storms of life, and Jesus is that anchor and the ransom paid on the cross at Calvary (Golgotha) to save us from sin (Romans 6:23).

My Hobbies: Creating art, listening to gospel, spiritual, blues, folk and ambient music, writing fiction, non-fiction editorials & reviews, reading, traveling (favorite destinations Pittsburgh, PA, Maine, Nova Scotia, Smoky Mountains of Tennessee & North Carolina, Ireland, Wales, Israel, New Zealand and the Bahamas), sport biking, scuba diving - what else is there?   Tools rendered: a Power MAC and a Windows XP Pentium processor, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, PageMaker, QuarkXpress, Strata Studio, Bryce 5, Fireworks, Painter, watercolor, gouache, acrylic, mixed, pen and ink, pencil, colored pencil, clay, Lexmark printer, scanner, Minolta 35mm camera, digital Vivicam and other media for fuel; carrot & papaya juice, fruit smoothies, variety of tea (I recommend Kalahari Red Rooibos, Green Tea, Spiced Chai), Virgil’s Natural Root Beer, Glaceau vitamin water, hot cocoa (this is my own special recipe that combines chai and real chocolate, none of the processed stuff), salmon cakes, Mac and cheese, Baked Apples, sesame rice crackers, and fudge with black walnuts. I’m mostly a “beans and potato” person. I try to eat healthy. An artist needs all the energy they can handle and keep those neurons in working order.

Services: My main focus is creating book cover and layout design for publication, fiction and non-fiction and CD album covers for the alternative/ambient/folk/bluegrass/Christian/traditional Gospel/classical music genres. If you are interested in having me create something for your music ensemble or next publishing project, I do strive to create artistic, cutting edge illustrations, and I do NOT do "obscene, violent and trashy" artworks that can be seen on various other mainstream covers. If you're interested in having me design something for your music, publication, illustration or print project, contact me for pricing, availability, etc. Pieces in my personal gallery can be licensed for your album cover or print. In addition, I am also available for any illustration, graphic and digital design requests for posters, promotional materials, magazines, brochures, menus etc. I also design multi-media and web sites. I can design sites that range from the very clean, minimal types, to more contemporary designs (e.g. HTML, JavaScript, flash, fireworks etc.). My business was listed with the Workbook and Who’s Who of the American Business Directory, 1999. One of my images appeared once at the Watching Eye (one of the largest reputable Bryce galleries on the web).

Currently: I'm writing a non-fiction of work titled, “The Christ Legacy: Following the Teachings of Jesus Christ in Values and Character.” And the process of writing a second a labor of love about the graphic art industry, Picture This: The Big Manual of the Graphic Arts Industry and My Illustrated Life. I’ve also have a few fictional stories and other non-fiction works in the mix. Finally there is someone out there revamping the art history books I read on an art news bulletin on a website. Art is always evolving. Guess what I’ve been doing? I’ve had Mega Grafx Studio added to Workbook; I keep in contact with some really nice people at Directory of Illustration; I’ve been updating in my Skylines Blog and Sketchy Tales of what’s going on in my neck of the woods, plus reviews and special editorials; illustrations for clients with Gig and Sologig; other freelance work for private individuals. I’m also taking care of my disabled mom, and learning a lot about being a caregiver, natural health advocate, medical information specialist/editor, bible scholar, and part-time astronomer. I’m planning on continuing my education in Graphic Communications, Illustration, and Journalism. For more see My Resume
